Moli or Kalawa is an identity of Hinduism. It’s a Red yellow Orange colored thread, which is usually tied in hands of man and woman both. Tying kalawa is an important tradition which signifies that someone is doing an Anushthan, Puja or Any Mangalic Karya. The person who is doing any auspicious rites and rituals ties it to the person who is getting it done and vice versa. The mantra chanted while tying the sacred thread by pandit ji is:

येन बद्धो बलीराजा दानवेन्द्रो महाबल:।
तेन त्वामनुबध्नामि रक्षे माचल माचल।।

This red Thread is considered as a sacred thread which is tied on the wrist before commencing any Holy practice or ceremony. The Red Thread or kalawa is used for a number of religious practices which symbolizes the showering of Holy blessings of God.This cotton thread believed to hold some amazing miraculous power which saves you from negative vibrations and protects our aura from negative energies. It is also said that this holy thread helps you to purify your thoughts and helps one too and turn into positive one. This thread also works as a Suraksha Kavach which protects you from any danger which will come in your path.

According to myths, Lord Vishnu in Vaman Avtar, tied a red Thread on the wrist of King Bali, to grant him eternal life.After that tying the Mauli Or Kalawa on the wrist of people began as a practice to grant them long lives. It is also believed that our whole body is regulated by the wrist vein also known as Naadi.So tying Mauli on wrist worked as a point of acupressure, Hence, tying it on wrist regulate the blood circulation of the whole body.

In every holy ritual from the wedding ceremony to performing any Anushthan wearing Tilak or Tying kalawa is a must ritual in Hindu religion. This Thread should always be tied while facing the palm in an upward direction and keeping another hand over the head.

Tying Kalawa is also symbolized as a fashion trend in the young generation. This thread is also tied by the sisters on the hands of their loving brother on the festival of Raksha Bandhan to protect their brother from any danger, mishappening, and the evil spirits and it helps them to remember their responsibility, resolution and the Vachan they give to their sisters to protect her from any hurdle of life.
