The most important part of an Indian wedding is the food offered. The taste buds of the guests are the ultimate judge that need to be pleased during the wedding. During weddings in Uttarakhand, many scrumptious dishes are served to the guests that are not only mouth watering, but are very good for the digestion system also. Uttarakhand has a lot of flavourful dishes that can make any occasion, deliciously unique. Here are some of them.

Kumaoni Raita
A raita made of curd, turmeric, chopped cucumber, green chillies and mustard seeds is one of the most loved side dish in Uttakhand. Curd and cucumber are very good for digestion system and at the same time, coriander garnishing adds more taste to the raita.

Sisunak Saag
Though Sisun plant shouln’t be touched as it will make you itch for hours but it is edible. Sisunak Saag is a scrumptious dish. The sisunk plant is boiled and then mashed into a fine pulp. The pulp is then cooked slowly and garnished with tomatoes. Its can be difficult to prepare it but is delicious to eat.

Dubuk
One of the most unique dishes of Uttarakhand is Dubuk. It is made of either Arhar, Gahat or Bhat ki Dal. A fine paste of dal is then cooked in an iron kadhai over slow fire. Though Dubuk is basically a winter dish, but you can have it any day of the year.

Arsa
Arsa is the pahadi version of Pua except that Arsa also contains jaggery and curd in it. These are soft round balls, that can be munched as a dessert after meals or during tea time. The flavour of jaggery and curd will remain on your tongue for a long time.

Singodi
Singodi is the signature dish of Kumaon. It is prepared with condensed milk (khoya) and then wrapped into a Molu leaf. The flavours of condensed milk and molu leaf are enhanced with coconut and cardamom. This sweet is very much famous around Almora.

Jhangora Ki Kheer
Jhangore ki Kheer is the mouth watering dessert served after the meal. Jhangora is type of millet and is the main ingredient of the kheer. This dish has the goodness of milk, raisins and cashews. This dessert has a rich texture and a taste that will be remembered by you for a long time. It is high in nutrients and really delicious in taste.
