While dry and chapped lips is a problem common in winters, summers are no exception. Worth to mention that in an urge to look beautiful, women spend significant time on the face but tend to overlook lips which let their presence felt to enhance their overall beauty.
Although our skin secretes the natural oil sebum from sebaceous glands that moisturizes our skin but our lips do not contain those glands which affect lips health. Moreover, with the arrival of the summer season, the drastic change in temperature, dry wind, and emission of Ultra Violet radiations affect the production of collagen that leads to dry and chapped lips.
As it is clear that scorching heat in summer makes our lip dry, there are certain ways which you can follow at the comfort of your own home to nourish your lips and let them look plumpy, pink and healthy.
• Water is an effective solution to all your skin problem, so for your lips. Keep yourself hydrated through the day as you sweat a lot in summer. Drink at least 3-4 litres of water to replenish the loss of water.
• You may agree that you tend to lick your lips again and again without noticing when they get dry. It is recommended to use SPF protected lip balms and balms with beeswax.
• Avoid stepping out in hot afternoons as sun rays absorb the moisture from your lips leading them to dry.
• Honey has healing property. Apply it overnight for few weeks to get rosy and soft lips.
• Make it a regular habit to put some coconut oil in your navel (belly button) to avoid cracked and dry lips or apply it to your lips to maintain the moisture of lips.
• Protect your lips from getting dry by including lots of green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet. Have foods that are a rich source of vitamins and eat fruits that have enough water content.
• Say a big no to tea, coffee, carbonated drinks. Have coconut water and buttermilk. Make sure you have fresh fruits or vegetable juice.
• Apply fresh aloe vera juice to make your lips look soft and supple. Leave it overnight and wash next morning.
• Exfoliate your lips to get rid of dead skin cells and impurities that accumulate there. Scrub your lips gently with sugar with the help of a toothbrush.
• Keep a vaseline in your bag all the time and massage it on your lips for fewer seconds so that it get absorbed when you feel dry lips.
• With excessive heat in summer, lips become black. But in order to get moisturized and healthy lips, mix saffron strands in curd and apply the mixture 2-3 times a day until you get effective results.
• Prepare a liquid by mixing 1 teaspoon of glycerine, few drops of coconut or castor oil and 1 teaspoon of lemon. Store it in refrigerate and apply it daily before you doze off to bed.
• Don’t sit in Ac’s rooms for a longer period of time. Use ventilation. Open windows and doors to let fresh air in.
• Whenever you roam in blazing sunlight, hide your face from cotton scarf as warm air also play an essential role to make your lips look dry.
• Sometimes, lips start to bleed when they crack. Rub ice cubes over it as it will help the blood flow to lips.
• Makeup deteriorates the condition either applied on face, skin or lips. So, remove the traces of makeup with a cotton ball before you sleep so that your lips breathe clean air.
• Massage your lips for few minutes with any of the essential oil (coconut oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, olive oil) to improve the blood circulation. Oils also helpful in providing required nutrients to the lips.
