After Vidai ceremony the bride comes to her husband’s home or her new home where she is welcomed by the entire family with full of exuberance. On the arrival, family members along with relatives and newlywed indulge in the series of post wedding rituals to make her feel comfortable.
Muh Dikhai or “Show Your Face”, the ceremony is basically a ritual to introduce the newly wedded bride to the family members, relatives, and the closed friends. During this ceremony, the member of the family comes in turn to make an acquaintance with the new bride. In this ceremony, each member gives the gifts and blessings to the newly wedded bride. These gifts are considered as the Shagun in India. The Shagun could be a gold and diamond jewelry, saree, money, other useful items and blessings as the token of love.
The ceremony and the celebration of welcoming the new bride are performed on depending upon the demographics and socio-graphics of the families. In this ritual, the bride sits with her face covered by a veil. The relatives and family members come one by one and lift the veil from the face of newly wed and in return, they shower the gifts and blessings for her upcoming life full of love and happiness.
