Nature is a God’s gift to us but our everyday habits and actions affect our beautiful environment in an adverse way. Needless to say, in the present era, the increasing use of electronic items (like AC, Refrigerator), vehicles, excessive use of water, each and everything not only affects climate but also takes a toll on our health and fitness.
We all know that every good and bad thing starts from our own home. Why not take an initiative to conserve our nature? Going green at home is surely the first step to sustain a healthy lifestyle. Though it may seem overwhelming at first, implementing few ways in our daily lives will lead to the fruitful outcome. We only need to take significant and small steps daily with patience.
It’s the prime responsibility of our youth, couples and each and every individual to preserve our beautiful planet earth.
There are several little things we can follow at our home regularly to reduce environmental impact and live a happier and healthier life. Go through the article and promise yourself to play a small part to save our mother earth.
• Install CFLs (Compact Fluorescent LightBulbs) whenever any old bulb gets fused. Make it a habit to switch off light/fan and other appliances when you leave the room.
• Make maximum use of natural sunlight. Open your curtains, windows, doors to let light enter in your room and house.
• Unplug all the electronic appliances when they are not in use.
• Avoid using the washing machine to wash daily wears as it consumes energy. fill water in a tub/bucket while washing clothes. Buy clothes which don’t need dry cleaning as it helps you to avoid using chemicals.
• Make it habit to turn off the water while brushing your teeth, shaving and washing your face. Dispose of extra water excreted from water purifier in plants.
• Remember to reuse the things. Use old jars in the kitchen to store items.
• Don’t use the shower while bathing. Fill the bucket with water to reduce the use of water. This step will also prove beneficial in reducing water bills.
• Buy plants for your garden that require less water. Have a herb garden. Grow tomatoes, chilies, beans in your garden area.
• In place of disposable bags, give a thought to buy reusable bags to use more often as they are durable and easy to carry and look beautiful.
• Water is a necessity. Install water purifier instead of purchasing bottled water every time. Refrain yourself from buying plastic water bottle as it is harmful to your health and environment. Use stainless steel, copper and aluminum water bottles
• Nowadays, every member of the house uses the separate vehicle to reach their destination. Set your time accordingly, if possible. Ask your friends and colleagues for carpooling to cut down fuel cost and gas emission. Refuse to use the vehicle if you can cover office distance through the walk.
• Don’t be in a hurry to buy one thing at a time. Whenever you step out to buy things for your home, make a list, re-read it to ensure nothing is left. Choose to walk if the store is within walking distance.
• Don’t but each and everything that grabs your attention. Choose to borrow books/appliances and things which are not used frequently. It not only save your money but also good for atmosphere.
• Refuse to use paper napkins to wipe and clean your hands. Consider the use of towels.
• Don’t change your smartphones, laptops and other electronics more often. Use them as much as possible. In case of any issue, recycle them.
• There are so many kitchen ingredients that are good for face, skin, and body. Skip cosmetic beauty products and go for natural remedies. For cleaning purpose, avoid the toxic chemical product, include lemon, vinegar, and baking soda.
