India’s 20 years old MBBS student, Manushi Chhillar made every Indian proud when she bagged the crown of Miss World 2017, the beauty pageant that was held at Sanya city arena in China on 18th November. She has left behind all the 108 participants across the world to clinch this prestigious title on her name. Stephanie Hill of England and Andrea Meza of Mexico are the first and second runners-up respectively.
‘The beauty with a purpose’ girl is the sixth woman to win the title of Miss world after a long wait of 17 years and the first one after Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra who clinched the same Miss World caption in the year 2000. The other Indians who had won the title Miss World are Reita Faria, Aishwarya Rai, Daina Haydon, and Yukta Mookhey.
Manushi Chhillar has previously won the most famous title of Femina Miss India 2017 on 25th June where she was crowned as Miss Photogenic. Reita Faria is her idol who was the first Indian and Asian women to win the Miss World title back in 1966 and was a renowned doctor as well.
Born in a Doctor family, she also chose the same profession she had completed her schooling at Saint Thomas School, New Delhi and pursuing her medical degree from Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women in Sonipat.
Manushi Chhillar is passionate about outdoor sports like scuba diving, paragliding, bungee jumping, and snorkeling. She loves to do painting and sketching in leisure time and is a trained classical dancer.
The answer to the question made her bag the respective crown among top 5 spots. After which she was crowned the coveted title by Miss World 2016 winner, Puerto’s Rico Stephaine Del Valle. When she was asked: “Which profession deserves the highest salary and why?”
To which She replied-
“I think a mother is of the highest respect. I don’t think its just about cash but love and respect she gives to someone. She is the biggest inspiration in my life. The mother should get the highest respect.”
She took a minute to thank all her supporters for the love and support they gave to her throughout the journey. She tweeted, ” Thank you, everyone, for your constant love, support, and prayers.
Aim to be a cardiac surgeon, Ms. Chhillar wants to open many non-profitable hospitals in rural areas. She has also been a part of spreading awareness regarding the important issue of Menstrual hygiene called Project Shakti under which she has changed the lives of around 5000 women.
