Spread the love

You all have acknowledged a decent puja room in every Hindu household. Isn’t it? It is a special place allocated to keep Hindu deities. Needless to say, a puja room (prayer room) is an intrinsic part of every Hindu home. People worship several Hindu deities here and use this place for doing meditations, japa (reading lord’s name, scriptures, prayers), yagya, singing devotional songs etc. Not only this but a special puja is organized on various occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, festivals to thank almighty God for prosperity, happiness, and well-being of family members and close ones and to bless them everything.

It is worth to mention that a pooja room brings positivity in the house and lives of people. But there are few important points that a person should be kept in mind while allotting a place, placing of idols and offering prayers. Go through the article at mangal parinay as I have tried to pile up everything in one place.
Points that should be considered while allocating a Puja room and following all the rituals like placing of idols and worshiping in your house:

• According to Vastu, a prayer or puja room should be constructed in the North-East, East or North direction so that the Sun’s rays fall directly in the pooja room because Sun rays at early morning are beneficial for the health.

• The puja room should be designed in the center of the house so that it has proper and cross ventilation system and can be seen from all rooms.

• One must not build a pooja room in the basement as it is comparatively dark and does not have enough natural sunlight.

• In case, your house doesn’t have enough space for prayer room then mandir should be placed in the north-east corner of the kitchen.

• One should not place mandir in bedrooms and near the toilet area as the foul smell cause disturbance while worshipping and meditating.

• Remember to avoid placing broken idols of God as it can be distracting.

• Idols should be placed in a manner that they are not facing north. In this situation, a devotee has to face south which is not good due to Earth’s magnetic rays.

• God’s idols should not face each other otherwise you won’t be able to see them clearly.

• The lit lamp should be placed in front of the idol so that you can admire them better.

• Food offerings must be kept in front of the idols as a mark of respect.

• Avoid keeping photographs of dead souls as it may bring back painful memories that will causa e distraction.

• According to Vastu, an ideal place of worship should have a lower ceiling as it is generally a small room and a lower ceiling helps to make it appear in proportion.

• Puja room should be de-cluttered from unnecessary things so that you feel peace and tranquility and positivity.

• It is suggested that puja room should be painted white color, light yellow or sky blue color. One should use white marble so that it reflects light.
