Here are some options you can easily try at home:

1 Use a small amount of dishwashing liquid (like vim or any detergent powder )mixed with lukewarm water to protect your jewelry. Soak the jewelry in this solution for about 10–15 mins and wipe it with a soft cloth and leave it to air dry. Precaution: This method is not suitable for jewelry that contains pearls/gemstones or other porous material (and also isn’t suitable for something like a gold watch!).

2 Apply a mild toothpaste with a few drops of water on the ornaments and wipe it clean with a soft cloth/brush. Precaution: Do not use whitening toothpaste.

3 To clean gold jewelry at home, which has gemstones, don’t soak it in water (water can get trapped and rust or discolor the stones or make them loose). Use a clean, dry cloth and gently rub the gemstones. Use a separate damp cloth to rinse the jewelry. Once done, keep them upside down and let them dry.

4 For silver jewelry take Colgate powder on your ornaments and rub it gently with your hand or a wastage cloth. This formula surely works on silver idols and crockery too.And makes your silver items shines like a brand new.

5 For gold jewellery take boiled water in bowl. Add some washing powder and a pinch of turmeric powder and let your gold ornament inside in it for 30 minutes. Then take it out and gently rub it with a toothbrush and rinse it off with clean water. The result will surely mindblowing.

6 Beer is also recommended to clean your gold jewelry to make it shine and looks like a brand new ornament. Dip a clean cloth of water inside beer and then rub gently with it on your ornament. And with the help of another cloth clean it. You will surely get amazed with the result.

7 Remember to always be gentle! Take care that you use a soft cloth/brush and do not scrub hard so that the jewelry doesn’t develop scratches.

2 It is suggested to keep your jewelry properly with utmost care. Put it in cotton and in the hard plastic box. It should not be kept in jeweler’s box as it contains chemicals while making the box.
