Navratri, one of the biggest festivals which is dedicated to the Goddess Durga is celebrated across India with immense faith and devotion. The nine Swaroop (diety) is worshipped for nine days to seek the blessings to have a happy and prosperous life. People observe fast and perform pujan religiously during nine days Some keep fast with a pair of cloves eaten once in a day or some are foodies who can’t live without food even for a single day.
Navratri food is prepared with the limited items comparing to the food we eat on the day to day life. Kuttu (buckwheat) flour, singhade ka atta, sama (millet) rice, sabudana are main ingredients required for cooking different dishes edible in fasting. It’s not true that Navratri fast can’t be delicious. We all know that food is the basic element to impress anyone as it is said that way to someone’s heart passes through one’s stomach.” And if you are newlywed bride it becomes a necessity to impress everyone with the ultimate taste of unique mouthwatering dishes they haven’t heard before. • Kuttu ki pakodi
One of the easiest recipe loved by everyone and prepared in the least time is kuttu ki pakodi.
Ingredients- ghee, 4-5 large sized potatoes, 2 big tablespoons kuttu flour and 2 big tablespoon singada flour, a pinch of black pepper (kali mirch), and rock salt (sendha namak).
Recipe- Cut slices of potatoes and mix them in mentioned flour with 1 cup of water. Add black pepper and rock salt. Heat ghee in oil and fried potatoes. Heat till it turns brownish red. Serve hot to enjoy crunchiness.
• Kuttu ka Dosa
Ingredients- ghee, singada flour, boiled potatoes, boiled arbi,vrat ka salt and powder of black pepper.
Recipe- Take kuttu flour in a vessel, add mashed arbi, salt and black pepper in it. Mix them well with required water to form a batter. Check the consistency and keep it aside. Fry boiled aalu in cumin seeds till then to stuff in the dosa. Heat the pan and pour a ghee spoon. Spread the batter. Cook for few minutes, flip it off, cook the other side and stuff with fried aalu. Roll the prepared dosa and surprise everyone and serve with coconut chutney.
• Sabudana Tikki
Ingredients- 1 cup Sabudana, ghee, salt, black pepper, green chilies and 1 full tablespoon of Singada/Kuttu flour, 2 boiled potatoes.
Recipe- soak the sabudana in a vessel in water for 4-5 hours. Drain out the water from soaked sabudana. Mash potatoes, add chilies (finely chopped) and mix with the sabudana. Sprinkle rock salt and black pepper. Prepare small balls of the mixture, sprinkle some flour otherwise it will stick to the pen. Deep fry them and serve hot with green chutney and curd and get appraise from all the family members
•Sama Uttapam
Ingredients- Sama Ke Chawal, rock salt as required, black pepper powder, chopped tomatoes and green chilies, coriander leaves, and water.
Recipe- Mix all the ingredients; sama ke chawal, sendha namak, black pepper powder, coriander leaves along with cumin seeds. Add water to form a thick batter. Heat the ghee/oil on tawa and spread the batter around. Sprinkle chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Flip the side, pour the ghee (little) and cook till the tomatoes color changes to brown. Serve to impress everyone with the unique uttapam.
• Banana Lassi
Ingredients- 4-5 bananas, 2 bowls yogurt, 4-5 spoons of honey, walnuts, raisins, and almonds and cardamom powder.
Recipe- take the jar and add sliced bananas, yogurt, honey, and a pinch of cardamom powder and give a round in juicer. Pour into glasses, sprinkle a pinch of cardamom powder and top it up with raisins, walnuts, and almonds.
