Kangana Khulai ki Rasam is one of the substantial post-wedding rituals of Indian weddings. The Kangna or holy thread is tied by the Pandit Ji on the hands of bride and groom at their respective places on the wedding day. Pandit Ji is invited on the morning of the wedding day and performed the Ganesh Pooja. After the auspicious Ganesh Pooja, the Lagan Patrika has been written by him where the Shubh Muhurat of Shubh Vivah or time of Saptapadi has been announced by him. Later he tied Kangana on bride’s and groom’s hand chanting shlokas or mantras.

Kangna is basically a sacred thread which is tied to keep off the evil eye away or keep the Buri Najar away from the beautiful bride and handsome groom.Generally, the Pandit Ji ties the 7 knots which acts as a protective guard for the couple while the ladies of the house sings the auspicious mangal geet as blessings for the bride-to-be for her new life with her husband. This thread is of red and orange color comprises with so many significant things like a Knife, Kaudi, Haldi ki Gaanth, and Raai. It is to be believed after tying the Kangna the bride-to-be and groom-to-be doesn’t allow to leave the home.Nowadays it is impossible for both the couples to stay in the home as they both have to go parlor or to perform other wedding ceremonies. So, Kangna is hidden with the handkerchief when they go outside the home.
Kangna Khulai Ki Rasam
This post wedding ritual is a must have a ritual for every traditional Indian wedding. After the arrival of both the bride and groom known as the Grah Pravesh ceremony, other post-wedding ceremonies were performed including Kangna Khulai Ki Rasam. This is a funfilled ritual where the bride and groom have to untie the knot one after another. While performing this ritual the new bride can use her both hands while the husband can use only his one hand at a time. The ritual is just performed to test the patience level and how they tune in with each other as a life partner. If the couple opens all the knots, it signifies that they both will face all the problems ahead together with patience and determination. The relationship between a husband and wife should be like the relationship between hand and eyes. if the hand gets hurts the tears comes from the eyes and if the eyes cry the hand wipes the tears.
